Unveiling
Today I went to the unveiling of a sign. Really. It was more interesting than it sounds, and is relevant to Canberra's history in a gentle kind of way.
The sign marks the location of the Pin Oak Forest (sponsored by Engineers Australia) in the National Arboretum. The arboretum is still in its early stages - the closest tree behind the people here was planted two years ago - it's one of the Pin Oaks. Other 'forests' are a little older or younger, but it's going to be a few years yet before they're at a stage where Canberrans can really enjoy this area.
Just for reference, the people in the photo above are (left to right) Rolfe Hartley (a past National President of Engineers Australia and Chair of the National Engineering Registration Board), Andrew Barr (ACT Government Minister), and Jennifer Murray (the current Engineers Australia Canberra Division President).
